Ok, just noticed another MISAPPLICATION of scripture (BLATANT)
Paragraph 22 talks about: "the proper places of husbsand and wife in the marriage union will therefore be observed and mutual obligations will be fulfilled" (meaning what exactly?) "Besides God's spirit, their approaching closer and closer to human perfection will make this easier and more enjoyable to do."!!!! Talking about the mutual obligations??? Interesting! OK, so the scripture quoted to sum up all this castle building in the air is Luke 23:43 - "Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise."
WHY DON'T I SEE THE CONNECTION OF THE SCRIPTURE TO THE REASONING spewed out just previous thereto??
This has to be one of the weirdest articles I've ever had the occasion to read...

Thanks for this. I would never have believed anyone was capable of producing such absolute shite, but to think that "God's mouthpiece" dispensed this 'at the proper time' proves to me once and for all that this organization is truly flying by the seat of their asses. No wonder all the articles are anonymous. Who would want to take credit for this rubbish?
These 'gems' need to be reproduced en masse and submitted for re-study, preferably this Sunday, so that present-day witnesses can bask in the glory of the new light and see just what tripe they've been saved from as the light continues to get 'brighter and brighter'.
Keep this CRAP coming. The more it sees the light of day, the more the Tower has to be ashamed of and the less they can pretend it all never existed.
Again THANKS!

I really like the New American Bible, which I picked up at a charity shop for a song. Lots of good Bibles to be had at charity shops, flea markets, book sales, etc. It is a Catholic version, but the footnotes incorporate some very good scholarship (imho) and it has been enlightening to say the least. I would highly recommend it. Not sure which year it is that I have, I believe it is 1986, and it was revised again in 1991 but I will check to make sure. There are also a lot of introductory notes that I found quite interesting, and each book of the Bible is given an outline and synopsis before the actual book begins.
Not sure which version is online, but the footnotes are there also. Anyone else out there have any comments on this particular version? If so, I would be interested to hear your take on it!

Premonitions and Prayer - Explained!
by Seeker4 inyesterday and today i had a couple of things happen to me that i think tie in well with why many people believe in the supernatural, or in their ability to foresee events.
yesterday, i had to travel a few hundred miles to do an interview for a magazine article, and i knew stormy weather was coming here in vermont.
i had a bad feeling about the trip and the possible weather complications, so much so that i actually called my insurance company and checked on my coverage.

Seeker4 - You wrote "...What I have frequently seen is that the mind is hugely capable of deluding itself"
My question to you is how did you 'see' this? With your own mind?
I think in the end we may all have to agree to disagree on this particular matter without resorting to calling our friends on the other side of the issue 'misguided' or 'deluded', because all of our opinions and beliefs are a very function of our 'brains', which may themselves be 'deluded'.
Not to hijack the thread, but anyone out there seen "What the bleep do we know? or Down the Rabbit Hole?"

Thanks so much for this...as others have said, a total waste of 30 minutes. What is special about it? Absolutely nothing.
Any one of us already knows this same 3rd-grade info, inside and out. And we know Jesus' rule is coming soon. It's been coming soon for the last x number of years. What we need to hear is who is qualified to rule mankind in the MEANTIME...like, while we are waiting for the promised Kingdom. The Watchtower corporation has put itself in that position by continually 'ruling' us in every avenue of life that it can and should be ashamed of itself for its record and legacy.
The talks are getting lamer and lamer because they say absolutely NOTHING...just empty platitudes that 'tickle' the ears of the attendees. Thank God I am no longer among them.

Some questions that I didnt find the answer as a JW Part 1
by tooktheredpill inhaving been raised in the truth, i thought that i had all the answers in the watchtower publications.
but as i started really reading the bible without filters, a lot of stuff started to appear that made no sense to me.
1) genesis 2:2: and by the seventh day god came to the completion of his work that he had made, and he proceeded to rest on the seventh day from all his work that he had made.. .

Those are excellent questions. Never thought about them myself but happy to add them to my own inventory of inexplicables...
Instead of having the brothers and sisters explain what little nuggets they found interesting in their Bible reading each Ministry School meeting, imagine having really thought-out questions being posed from the audience to which the brother on the podium would have no plausible answer...this must be avoided at all costs! No wonder the meetings have to be increasingly regimented to disallow any reasonable questioning of any kind...

Am I the only one that didnt realize about the GB?
by yourmomma inhere is a question for you.
i'll give a little back ground.
i was raised in the witness organization however in about 1993 i encountered much hypocrisy and left for about 3 years.

Meeting Junkie No More
No, you're not the only one. I also vividly remember that comment about 'Jehovah God and Jesus Christ trusting the GB and so should we', now that you mention it. But, and I know this sounds crazy, it didn't even make an impact on me at the time that I heard it. I accepted it. How crazy is that?
I think there are different triggers for each person that leads them to start thinking on their own. For me it was other comments not related to the GB, but I think the triggers are multiplying so fast that inevitably, more and more mental light bulbs will go off, and the Tower will implode!
Great post!

A little difficult, yes. Not sure why that is. Very afraid of being 'found out' so can't post as much as I'd like. Hopefully that will change.

Brilliant - can we have a weekly session? I must have missed part 1 and will see if I can find.
Very informative and I, for one, appreciate all your hard work in dissecting this. Thanks!
